C3-Pancreatic Cancer Research Group

Over the past several years, there has been a tremendous explosion in research activity around pancreatic cancer at UC San Diego, Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute and the Salk Institute.  The C3- Pancreatic Cancer Research Group will build on the C3 collaborative agreement between UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center and the NCI basic cancer centers at Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute and the Salk Institute for Biological Studies.

Team Leaders:
Dr. Andrew Lowy (UC San Diego)
Dr. Cosimo Commisso (Sanford-Burnham)
Dr. Pamela Itkin-Ansari (Sanford-Burnham)
Dr. Dannielle Engle (Salk Institute)

Our vision is to improve the lives of persons diagnosed with pancreatic cancer by innovative research and clinical care.
Our mission is to unite scientists and clinicians committed to pancreatic cancer research and treatment in a highly collaborative environment that accelerates the progress and impact of our work.

We seek to stimulate team science and translational research collaborations in the pancreatic cancer space and;
      More closely align basic and clinician researchers working in pancreatic cancer
      Accelerate research and translation across campuses
      Facilitate sharing of resources such as mouse models, cell lines, and tool compounds
      Enable competitive large grant submissions and unique industrial collaborations
      Attract new minds to the field from other research areas

Monthly seminars are open to those from both academia and industry, interested in connecting with other investigators. The dates for these meetings are posted on the
C3 calendar and will consist of 1-2 presentation(s) by a basic researcher, clinician or translational researcher, with ample time for questions and discussion.
